Not everyone is lucky enough to be born with sunkissed, olive-toned skin, so us paler-skinned beauties have to know how to work the bronzer when the occasion calls for it. Although being an Aryan beauty definitely has its advantages, during the summer season everyone likes to show off their glowing skin, so today we’re going to take a look at how to bronze porcelain skin without crossing over into the realm of an oompa loompa.
Pick the right colour:
When picking out a bronzer to suit your skin, choosing the right colour is key. Many bronzing powders on the market are either far too orange-toned or muddy for fairer complexions, so doing your research and testing out various shades for yourself is essential. As a fellow pale girl with a love of beauty, I’ve luckily done a lot of the groundwork for you and can confidently recommend the following shades from NARS, MAC, and Maybelline. Bare in mind that everyone is unique so you’ll have to try these yourself, but these suggestions will help point you in the right direction.
Use a light hand:
When applying any sort of colour to your face you want to start light and build up the colour – and this applies to everyone – not just those with fairer skin! I’m sure that you’ve heard that it’s much easier to add colour than to take it away, so start with a light hand and build up the bronzer as you go.
As with anything else in makeup, blending is key. No one wants to be seen with streaky cheeks, so make sure that after you apply your bronzer you blend it out well. The tip with bronzer is to get only a small bit on a fluffy brush, concentrate it where you want it (cheeks, jawline and temples) and then, without adding any more colour, use the same brush to buff the colour out and distribute it over the rest of your face – your nose and chin especially.
So those are our main tips for applying bronzer to paler skin (or really any skin colour at all!) Do you have any tips? Let us know!
